URGENSI INTEGRASI NILAI-NILAI EKOTEOLOGIS DALAM PENDIDIKAN AGAMA ISLAM SEBAGAI PENGUATAN KARAKTER KHALIFAH BERWAWASAN LINGKUNGAN

The escalating global ecological crisis demonstrates that environmental issues are not merely technical but also related to human moral and spiritual crises. In this context, Islamic Religious Education (PAI) plays a strategic role in building ecological awareness based on faith values. This study aims to examine the urgency of integrating ecotheological values into Islamic Religious Education as an effort to strengthen the character of environmentally conscious caliphs. This study uses a qualitative approach with a library research method of various scientific literature discussing Islamic ecotheology, character education, and Islamic Religious Education. The results of the study indicate that ecotheological values such as tauhid, caliph, amanah, mizan, and maslahah have strong theological and pedagogical relevance in shaping students' ecological awareness and responsibility. The integration of these values into Islamic Religious Education learning not only strengthens the religiosity dimension of rituals but also fosters students' caring, responsible, and ethical character towards the environment as part of practicing Islamic teachings. Thus, the integration of ecotheological values in Islamic Religious Education is an important and contextual character education strategy in forming a generation of environmentally aware caliphs who are able to respond to the challenges of the ecological crisis in a sustainable manner.
